i've been jogging for 15 years or so and i've just started Ashtanga yoga about 3 months ago.
i know i'm still new to it, but i'm feeling extremely tight in my hips! i see all the other (much younger!) students in class in baddha konasana with their knees pretty much to the ground and i feel as if my hips only allow me to have my knees at a 45 degree angle, if you know what i mean.
my teacher keeps saying "relax the hips! relax the hips" and i AM relaxing, but they only go so far
what can i do to loosen the hips? |

well the jogging is the reason why your hips are tight
you've only been practicing for 3 months, give it time, your hips will loosen up in time
try sitting cross-legged at every opportunity you get
whatever you do, don't push too hard or you'll hurt yourself. |
