in janu sirsasana b, i can't seem to get my foot comfortable (the foot you sit on).
my yoga teacher says that the toes of the foot you sit on should be pointing forwards to the other foot, but this is just uncomfortable to the point of painful. what should i do?
she said that i can just repeat the a version, but i feel if i don't get b version that i'll never get it |

When I started, we did janu B with the toes of the foot we're sitting on pointing in line with the bent leg... so the toes would stick out on the outside of your straight leg... if that makes sense
I'm not yoga teacher, but I think there's something to do with foot/ankle flexibility in this pose, if you can't invert your foot to have the sole of your foot facing upwards while the foot is flexed, then you shouldn't really sit on it in the way you have described.
I would actually do what your teacher suggested, stay with janu A until you get a little more flexibility... there's no rush... you have the rest of your life to practice! |

hi rubberrob
take it easy in any asana you do... you don't want to hurt yourself! all will come with patience and practice... give your feet and knees time to loosen and open up. |
